Obsidian is one of the most important stones for the pre-Hispanic Nahuatl and Toltec cultures, it represented the peoples who come from the north, the wisdom of knowledge and the reflection of the soul.

Obsidian Manto Huichol - Virtues and specificities

It is a rare obsidian that comes from Mexico. it is sought after for its rich colors...and for its energetic virtues. Very close to rainbow obsidian or celestial eye, it is in fact a variety having suffered a seismic shock during its cooling. The successive layers of reflections are thus mixed into an abstraction of various colors causing these colors to move in the light and be unique. Its colors and name are borrowed from the visions of the Huichols, during ceremonies with hikuri or peyote, a sacred Mexican plant. The Huichols, an ancestral people of Mexico, are called Wirrárika, which means “the people”. It is a word from their own language: wixaritari or vaniuki, they inhabit the Mexican Sierra Madre Occidental where the states of Zacatecas, Durango, Jalisco and Nayarit converge.
